Dumbledore is announcing a special event, head to the Great Hall to see what’s new in Hogwarts Mystery.
Let the Festivities Begin!
The Let the Festivities Begin quest is a 5 day adventure split into four parts which becomes available in Year 4. It will reward gold, gems, notebooks, and some new formal clothing for the ball. The entire quest must be completed within 5 days to receive full rewards.
Part 1: Celestial Ball Election
The Hogwarts’ Celestial Ball is quickly approaching. It’s a festive event with music, decorations, refreshments, and dancing. Student can help plan the event and even bring a date.
Find out more about the Celestial Ball in a 1 hour mission which requires 1 star to complete. Upon completion Dumbledore will dismiss the students and mention an upcoming election to lead the planning.
Penny Haywood will ask to meet in the Artefact room as she has a question for you regarding the Celestial Ball.
Turns out she wants to know if you’ll support her if she is elected to lead the planning committee. Unfortunately Penny is worried she may lose to Emily Tyler in the election. Emily has been running a negative campaign against Penny, slandering her at every turn. Help Penny win the election! A 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete will follow.
At Hogwarts Penny is known as a nice person who is good with potions, she wants a chance to show off some of her other talents.
Meet Bill Weasley in the Great Hall and convince him to help with Penny’s campaign. Bill is hesitant and still hasn’t gotten over the way Emily Tyler cruelly rejected him. You’ll have to convince him by answering his questions correctly. Bill will have 18 courage, 18 empathy, and 19 knowledge and it will cost 450 gold to start this activity.
His questions are as follows:
Answers in yellow are worth 5 points while answers in green are worth 10 points.
I’d rather not see Emily.
You can try to avoid Emily.
Our focus will be on Penny.
Why does Penny want to win?
Because winning is fun.
To make us great decorations.
But this dance isn’t for my year.
That hasn’t stopped Emily.
Your experience can help us.
After some convincing Bill will agree to attend the election and help campaign for Penny.
Attend the election in the Library. Penny is gearing up to get some votes while Emily is more interested insulting Penny. Campaign for Penny in a 3 hour activity that requires only 1 star to complete.
After your hard work Penny will win the election and promise a starry-filled ball. Penny hopes you’ll help her make decorations, Bill isn’t interested in decorating and goes on his way.
Meet Penny in the Charms classroom and attend the decoration committee meeting. Professor Flitwick will be there along with Tulip, Tonks and Barnaby. Now make some decorations with your friends in a 1 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete.
Everyone feels something is missing from the decorations. Tulip really wants to use magic, but Penny is worried she might get in trouble as Flitwick said no magic was to be used. Penny will ask your opinion… If you choose to not use magic Flitwick will return and give 5 points to your house and Penny will be grateful you supported her.
After the decorations are completed Penny will rush off after letting you know how excited she is to show you the finished product.
View the decorations by visiting the Hogwarts Great Hall. Penny has done an amazing job transforming the Great Hall into a place worth of hosting the Celestial Ball.
Unfortunately Ben Copper and Rowan don’t plan on attending the Celestial Ball. Question them in a 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete to find out why.
Both are making excuse like not having formal clothing or wanting to study instead, but in reality they’re just kind of nervous. After talking it out they come to the conclusion that they might be happier doing their own thing and tell you to not interfere.
Part 2: Celestial Ball Preparations
Part 2 of the Let the Festivities Begin event involves convincing Ben and Rowan to attend the Celestial Ball. It is split up into 7 tasks.
You decide to ignore Rowan and Ben’s pleas. Start off by talking with Ben in Transfiguration Class and build his confidence to attend the Ball. Pair up with him in the conveniently timed group activity and talk of your Master Plan. This is a 3 hour activity which requires 5 stars to complete.
After some encouragement from Professor McGonagall herself Ben will reluctantly decide to allow you to help him prepare for the Ball.
Unfortunately Rowan overheard your conversation with Ben and is extremely upset. Meet her in the Library to talk.
Ben was the only other person not attending the ball, now that he is going Rowan doesn’t want to be the only student in the school who does not attend. Convince Rowan to allow you to give her a makeover in a 3 hour activity which requires 1 star to complete.
Meet Andre Egwu in the Training Grounds and convince him to help with Ben and Rowan’s makeover. Andre thinks they might be beyond his help, convince him otherwise in a 1 hour mission that requires all 5 stars to complete.
As Rowan was more difficult to convince, Andre will want to work on her first.
Meet in the Three Broomsticks where Andre will be giving social advice to Rowan. She is worried that she’s too weird and doesn’t have anything to talk about to more popular kids. Bill walks in and Andre decides that Rowan should practice talking to him.
Of course Rowan is nervous about talking to such a talented and popular wizard. Help her out with some encouragement.. Bill will the explain what to expect during dances in a 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete.
After the talk Rowan will leave with a new sense of confidence. Now on to helping Ben Copper.
Meet Ben in the Charms classroom with professor Flitwick who offers to teach ben the “Maximus Confidencius” charm. This seems like a fake charm which will give Ben a placebo effect. Find out in a 1 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete.
Now that preparations are complete, watch Andre style Ben and Rowan. He already has some fancy ballroom outfits picked out for both of them.
After a 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete Ben and Rowan will be extremely pleased with their looks and eager to attend the ball.
Now it’s your turn to get an outfit. Apparently Andre already has some ideas for you..
Head over to Flying Class where Ben and Rowan want to pay you back by helping pick the perfect date for you. After a 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete they will tell you to head to the Hogwarts Courtyard to pick a date…
This ends Part 2: 5 gems and 250 experience will be rewarded.
Part 3: Picking a Date
Part 3 of the Let the Festivities Begin side quest involves finding a date for the ball and is split into 8 tasks.
Meet Rowan and Ben in the Courtyard to search for a date. Rowan seems to have many ideas on potential Celestial Ball dates. She asks if you’d prefer a boy or girl, extrovert or introvert. Answer however you see fit, apparently it won’t have any effect on potential dating options.
Ismelda shows up and overhears that you don’t have a date for the Ball yet. She mocks Ben and Rowan before challenging you to a duel. Ismelda has 18 courage, 18 empathy, and 19 knowledge. It will cost 500 gold to start the duel.
Dueling is always extremely random in Hogwarts Mystery. I had 26-27 of each attribute and still managed to lose my first attempt. Just keep trying until you beat her and you will be rewarded with 500 experience.
Head over to Potions Class to see if there are any potential dates there. Merula will mock you for not having a date, turn the tables on her to find out she clearly does not have one either.
Embarrassed, Merula yells loudly that you’re distracting her. Snape will have you stay late and clean as punishment.. this is a 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete.
Professor Snape will ultimate give you some advise to follow your heart and send you on your way…
Andre “sort of” has your outfit ready.. see what is going on in the Artefact Room. Tulip Karasu is there as well and they reveal there are multiple options available as noticed in the quest reward options.
Basically the outfits are not yet ready and instead they invite you to chat about dates for the Celestial Ball. This takes place over a 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete. Afterwards Barnaby runs in and describes an emergency in the Greenhouses…
Turns out the Emergency is that Penny forgot to get flowers to decorate the Celestial Ball. Pick flowers with Penny, Tonks, and Barnaby in a 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete.
Tonks says she’s going to the ball alone, but asks if you would hypothetically choose Penny or Barnaby to be your date. It requires a friendship level of 8 with each of them to select.
Find Hagrid to get some advice about choosing a date. He’ll give you advice in a 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete. He will ask if you prefer to get asked to to the Ball, or do the asking yourself. Regardless you should get out of the corridor and find a date..
Head to the Great Hall. Ben Copper has something urgent going on. Unfortunately they failed to find you a date to the Celestial Ball, but they did realize that most people in your year haven’t found dates either. Mingle with your friends to find out more in a 3 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete. The unique thing about this activity is that you will not be able to leave the Great Hall once it starts, so no free energy will be available. Make to not start the activity when your energy is low.
After the activity ends you may choose from the following friends in your year: Merula, Ismelda, Andre, Tulip, Rowan, Barnaby, Penny, or Ben. Unfortunately Tonks can not be selected as she is intent on going solo.
Upon making a choice Bill will ask to confirm your decision, this is the last chance to change your date. Depending on your selection in Part 3: Task 5 you will either ask your date or be asked yourself in a future step.
You will have to wait 3 hours or pay 55 gems before the step becomes active.. this could be a good time to catch up on some other quests.
Head to the courtyard to find your selected date alone. After a brief, awkward conversation one of you will ask the other to the Celestial Ball.
This is followed by a 3 hour activity that requires all 5 stars to complete in which you will discuss your plans for the date.
With your date out of the way, the only thing left to do is select an outfit. Andre has your three dress choices set up in the Great Hall.
However you must first complete an 8 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete.
Upon completion you will be rewarded with your chosen outfit, they also come with a unique hairstyle. Feel free to try each of the outfits on, there will be a final confirmation before your selection is locked in. Now that your outfit is selected, the only thing left to do is pick up your date and attend the Celestial Ball!
Part 4: Attend the Celestial Ball
The final part of the Let the Festivities Begin side quest has only 1 task which, of course, involves attending the Celestial Ball.
You will have to wait 5 hours before the final task unlocks. Once available head into the Great Hall and talk to your friends. Rowan and Ben will be glad they decided to come and Tonks says that almost all of your friends didn’t manage to get a date. Eventually your date will turn up and you’ll head off to enjoy the dance together.
Penny will then be honored for her role in decorating the for the Celestial Ball and Bill will show up to congratulate you. Now just finish up with the Ball in a 8 hour activity which requires all 5 stars to complete.
Upon completion you will be rewarded with 100 to all attributes and 1250 experience.
